Day 5 of 7
Lead With What You're Good At: Professional Sustainability
Focus on Your Strengths
Today's topic may seem brief, but it's focused. You'll need to start by identify your character strengths. I recommend completing the survey below.
Alternatively, you can reach out to 3 people in your life, balancing work and personal relationship. Ask these individuals to identify 5 character strengths from the list below. Additionally, this list will be found in the appendix.
Take A Deeper Dive to Start
The VIA Survey of Character Strengths has been developed by Christopher Peterson, Martin Seligman at UPenn. This has been extensively researched and is remarkably insight.
This is a free survey but will require a login process. After completing the survey, which takes 20-25 minutes, print a copy of your full results for future reference. Then:
- Take a minute with each of these in a self awareness activity, sitting quietly with each of these words to notice how you feel when imagining leading with each of these.
- For each of your top 3 identified strengths, note how you believe this assists others when you utilize this in leadership roles.
- For each of your top 3 identified strengths, note how you can better utilize these strengths at work. For best results, be specific.
